Clean Water Access
and Dignified Public Toilets
HER Africa’s First Community Project
Clean Water, Healthier Communities
The Challenge
Many communities in Nigeria lack access to clean water, sanitation, and basic healthcare. This increases the risk of preventable illness and places additional strain on women and girls, who are often responsible for collecting water and caring for their families.
Our Response
This project marked HER Africa’s very first charity initiative. We worked alongside the community to improve access to clean water and sanitation by reducing the need for long, unsafe walks to fetch water and by providing dignified public toilets. These changes saved time, improved hygiene, and helped protect the health of families.
This first project laid the foundation
for HER Africa’s ongoing commitment to community-led, sustainable change.
Why It Matters
Access to clean water and safe sanitation is essential for health, safety, and dignity. When these basic needs are met, families are healthier, children can attend school more consistently, and communities grow stronger and more connected.
